City Service Updates

A  province-wide Stay-at-Home order is currently in effect until further notice. This puts in place lockdown measures that are the most stringent, to address rapidly escalating conditions, including the spread of COVID-19 variants of concern.

The City of Brantford’s top priority continues to be the health and safety of our citizens and staff. All non essential in person programs and services will be suspended until further notice. Many popular City services can be requested and addressed using one of our comprehensive online forms, meaning you can conveniently request a city service from the comfort of your home. Protocol for attending City facilities

Upon visiting a City facility, Building Security will ask you if you have an appointment booked. Anyone entering a City facility will be required to answer health-screening questions and sign in for the purposes of contract tracing at the door prior to entering. Hand washing guidelines are to be followed and persons are to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from others. All visitors will be required to wear a face covering at all times in City facilities. If you do not have a face covering, one will be provided.

Please note, there is a limit to the number of visitors allowed inside at one time, and lines will be outside with appropriate markings for physical distancing.

Brantford Transit Terminal

Brantford Transit continues to offer full 30-minute service and the Brantford Transit Terminal remains open. Wearing a face covering is required in enclosed public indoor spaces, including all public transit, until further notice. 

Please  respect the use of public transit for essential trips only. If you do require transit, please maintain a safe physical distance from others to protect against COVID-19. 

COVID-19 procedures in place for Brantford Transit:

  • Reminding customers to only ride the bus for essential travel (e.g. work, medical appointments and grocery shopping)
  • All buses are cleaned and disinfected every 24 hours including frequent touch points like handrails, buttons, seats and straps
  • Each bus' automated voice callout system has also been updated to remind passengers to wash their hands and follow COVID-19 preventative measure best practices as instructed by the driver
  • Brantford Lift service customers are asked to avoid all non-essential travel. Mobility services will be screened as many are older adults who may be more at risk of severe illness
City Hall
City Hall is open for service from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling 519-759-4150. Many City services can be requested or addressed using one of our comprehensive online forms, meaning you can conveniently request a City service remotely by visiting Review the list of Popular City Services available online.

Blue boxes are not available at City Hall but can be picked up at the Mohawk Street Landfill Site.

When attending City Hall, enhanced COVID-19 protocols will be in place to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff. Residents are strongly encouraged to use alternate payment methods such as making payments online or through the drop box.

Ontario Works and Homelessness

  • Individuals and families currently in receipt of Ontario Works can contact their Service Coordinator by calling 519-759-3330. 
  • Residents who wish to apply for social assistance can do so online at the Ontario Works page or call 519-759-7009 from Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to complete an application

Emergency Sheltering Services

If you are in need of Emergency Sheltering Services, please call the Housing Resource Centre at 519-802-4332.


  • Individuals and families that wish to apply for community housing may continue to do so by mail or at the City’s Housing page.
  • Households can apply for other housing programs by mail or at the City’s Housing page.
  • Urgent maintenance services are available and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis by calling your Property Manager or Property Management Assistant at 519-759-3330.
  • Housing Providers can continue to reach staff at 519-759-3330.

Children’s Services

  • Families currently receiving Child Care Fee Subsidy can contact their Child Care Representative by calling 519-759-3330
  • Families who want to apply for Child Care Fee Subsidy, can visit the City’s Children’s Services page or call 519-759-7009 from Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to complete an application or request an in-person appointment

Provincial Offences Court 

Provincial Offences Court administrative services are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

All in-person services will be offered during this time, with the exception of court proceedings which are only being offered virtually and only for certain matters.

Customer service is also available via phone at 519-751-9100 or by email at from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, for inquires/payments/filings.

COVID-19 Violation Reporting
To enforce current provincial and local orders implemented to protect public health, the City announced a new reporting process by which members of the public can report Covid-19 violations to the City for investigation.

Marriage Licence applications and issuances are by appointment only and only offered to residents of The City of Brantford, County of Brant, and Six Nations of the Grand River.

Parking Tickets

Property Tax and Utility Bills

You can use the drop off box, located outside of the front doors at City Hall, 100 Wellington Square, to drop off cheques for property tax and water utilities payments.

Property Tax

The waiving of interest on 2020 taxes and NSF fees ends September 30, 2020. For more information and billing dates, visit the property tax page.

The City of Brantford's Customer Services-Utilities department handles water, wastewater and Brantford Hydro equipment rentals.
