Healthy Aging Without Walls

Healthy Aging Without Walls is a free interactive telephone-based program that connects older adults with others from the comfort of their own home. Call in to participate in trivia, health and wellness seminars, or discussion groups. This is a great opportunity to learn something new and make meaningful friendships.

March 2021 Programs

Mon. March 1st 

  • 10:00 am - Chair Move & Stretch: Designed to help maintain strength, increase flexibility, improve balance and gain independence with movements being done sitting on a chair. You will move through a combination of movements to get the body energized and get the blood flowing. Seated weight work and stretching are used to condition and tone the body combined with cardio movements to raise the heart rate. Finish with a relaxation segment designed to lower the heart rate, relieve stress, and leave you feeling great! Please ensure that you are sitting in a sturdy chair (no wheels) and that you are in a comfy and quiet setting so there are no distractions during the class. You should also use the speaker phone feature on your phone so that you can participate in the movements hands-free!
  • 1:00 pm – Speaker School – Communication 101: In this session we will explore speaking from our experiences to avoid or manage conflict with Carrie Sinkowski, Community Legal Clinic.

  • 10:00 am: Join Laurie Ball from the Alzheimer Society for fun & interactive Brain Fit activities.

Wed. March 3rd

  • 10:00 am – 20 questions: Let’s try to guess the person or object in 20 questions or less.

Thurs. March 4th

  • 10:00 am – Chair Yoga: A gentle form of yoga that is done sitting on a chair.  Chair yoga helps increase flexibility, circulation, strength, improves balance and relieves stress.  The class incorporates breathing exercises, stretching, yoga postures, and final relaxation. Please ensure that you are sitting in a sturdy chair (no wheels) and that you are in a comfy and quiet setting so there are no distractions during the class. You should also use the speaker phone feature on your phone so that you can participate in the movements hands-free!
  • 1:00 pm with ARTC – A-Z Desserts and Sweets: Let’s brainstorm together to come up with a dessert/sweet for every letter of the alphabet. Make sure you eat before you join!
