Six Nations Polytechnic offers free Cayuga language classes as part of the Celebrate Fall Series

BRANTFORD, ON – Six Nations Polytechnic, in partnership with the City of Brantford, is pleased to offer Brantford residents, ages 15 and over, a free 4-week Introduction to Cayuga Language class as part of the Celebrate Fall Series.

“Six Nations Polytechnic is excited to bring language programming to urban areas as a way to build their connection to identity or even explore their interests in the Cayuga language,” says Stevie Johnathan, Unit Manager of University Programs at Six Nations Polytechnic. “We hope that participants will choose to stay-on and continue their studies with us.”

The Introduction to Cayuga Language class take place on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. from November 5 to 24, 2022 at Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre, located at 333 Erie Avenue. This opportunity is limited to residents of the City of Brantford. Space is limited and registration is required.

Registration remains open for the upcoming Indigenous Cultural Teachings pop-up program that will take place on Saturday, October 22. This program is also a part of the Celebrate Fall Series and will provide residents an opportunity to connect and celebrate local Indigenous cultural traditions in an inclusive atmosphere. This event, led by Woodland Cultural Centre, will include interactive learning experiences and end with a round-dance. It is open to all ages and will be held at Woodman Park Community Centre, located at 491 Grey Street from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  

These opportunities are limited to residents of the City of Brantford. Space is limited and registration is required. Please send your name and number of participants (including their ages) to partnerships@brantford.ca to register for free.
