Join us to celebrate the grand opening of Brantford’s new City Hall with FREE activities and giveaways for the whole family! Take part in an official guided tour of new City Hall, dance to some world-class jazz and put your hands together for the official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate your new City Hall.

Residents will find Harmony Squirrel handing out customized cookies, world record stilt walker Doug the Great, magician Graeme "Graemazing" Reed, Tourism Brantford will be there to share what’s new and exciting in the City, Healthy Kids will have fun giveaways for the kids, and so much more!

Pre-registration for the event is necessary to comply with COVID-19 gathering restrictions in place. Please be sure to register in advance and complete the Coronavirus (COVID-19) self-assessment (ontario.ca) before attending. While face coverings are strongly recommended, the event is taking place outside and therefore face coverings are only required if physical distancing with those outside your household cannot be maintained. 

City of Brantford staff are collecting donations at this event for the Woodland Cultural Centre’s Save the Evidence campaign to raise awareness and support for the restoration of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School, and to develop the building into an Interpreted Historic Site and Educational Resource.

Please note Dalhousie Street will be closed from Market Street to Queen Street from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Inside the new and modern City of Brantford Council Chambers

Guided City Hall Tours

10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (Space is limited, pre-registration is required)

Join an official tour guide to learn more about your new City Hall. Built in 1915 and expanded by a major addition in 1960, the building has been owned by the Federal Government until January 2018 when the City took possession. While the interior of the building has been completely transformed, the exterior features have been left unmodified. Pre-registration is required and you can do so online or by calling 519-759-4150 extension 8045. Participants in the tour will receive a free customized water bottle to mark the occasion.

The DiFelice Jazz Quintet

Join Frank and Nancy DiFelice for a day of unforgettable jazz. The couple behind Brantford’s International Jazz Festival will perform in downtown Brantford’s Harmony Square from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The official ceremony begins at 12 p.m. and will feature Brantford’s Town Crier David McKee, Mayor Kevin Davis, Chief Administrative Officer Brian Hutchings and a flag raising.

Please note that Dalhousie Street from Market Street to Queen Street will be closed to traffic for the safety of people attending the new City Hall grand opening.
