Show Your Spirit Contest
The City of Brantford and Brantford’s Canada Day Celebration Committee, in partnership with The Kiwanis Club of Brantford (Kiwanis), is excited to announce the return of the annual Show Your Spirit Home Decorating Contest. Residents who decorate the exterior of their homes and register online by Wednesday, June 8, 2022, will be entered for the chance to prizes!
Residents who pre-register to participate in the contest will have their homes judged for the chance to win a grand prize of $1,000, plus a $500 donation to a registered charity of their choice. There will also be the chance to win one of five runner-up prizes of $200 each. The prizes are courtesy of Kiwanis. All entries will be judged by Kiwanis members and Mayor Kevin Davis from June 22 to 29, 2022, with the winners being announced at Brantford’s Canada Day event at Lions Park Steve Brown Sports Complex on Friday, July 1, 2022.
Judging categories
- Originality (thinking outside the box)
- “Spirit” of the Canadian Theme (use of iconic Canadiana)
- Overall Appearance (curb appeal)
- Construction Ingenuity (stable, clever design).
Residents that want to participate in the contest have until Wednesday, June 8, 2022 to register online and decorate the exterior of their homes by Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

Volunteering
The success of this annual event is made possible with the help of amazing volunteers. Volunteers will receive a keepsake t-shirt and community service and high school volunteer hours if applicable. Opportunities include:
- set-up and take-down
- clean-up
- parking attendants (must be ages 18 or over)
- other various duties

How to get involved
Get involved by submitting a Canada Day Volunteer Application Form by Monday, June 20, 2022. Applicants must be available to attend mandatory training on Thursday, June 23 at 6:00 p.m. Please note that your preferred volunteer selection may not be able to be accommodated.
