Your Time Youth Program

The Your Time Youth Program pairs recreational activities with learning opportunities. Youth ages 13 to 18 are invited to attend this FREE program that runs every Thursday (with the exception of August 11th)  beginning July 7th until August 25th, 2022 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30pm at Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, located at 254 N Park St. Pre-registration is required. This program is provided through the support of Canadian Tire Corporation’s Jumpstart Charities Sport Relief Fund.

Dance Fit and How to Support a Friend: Thursday, July 7 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Participate in a dance-based class that involves a great cardio workout by moving to music. Afterwards, Nova Vita staff will lead a discussion on how to support friends facing issues related to bullying, domestic violence, and mental health.

Yoga and Mindfulness: Thursday, July 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Participate in low-impact poses and sequences to improve balance, strength, and flexibility, while decreasing stress and improving overall wellness. Afterwards, there will be a discussion on how to practice meditation, breath regulation, and mindfulness.

Volleyball and Stress Management: Thursday, July 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Players will have the chance to practice skills, drills, and have a friendly game. Afterwards, join the Brant Skills Centre to explore what stress feels like, how to reduce stress, and make a plan to deal with at least one of the stressors you experience.

Indoor Soccer and Healthy Living: Thursday, July 28 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Players will have the chance to practice skills, drills, and have a friendly game. Afterwards, The Brant County Health Unit will lead a discussion on Healthy Living.

Yoga and Mindfulness: Thursday, August 4 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Lacrosse/Traditional Games and Attitude: Thursday, August 18 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Join Onkwehonwe Games and learn about the history of Six Nations Indigenous Peoples through lacrosse and other traditional games. Afterwards, join Brant Skills Centre for a discussion on how to work through life’s challenges by having a positive attitude.

Lacrosse/Traditional Games and Confidence: Thursday, August 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Join Onkwehonwe Games and learn about the history of Six Nations Indigenous Peoples through lacrosse and other traditional games. Afterwards, join the Brant Skills Centre to discuss how low confidence can hold you back, and how you can build your self-confidence over time.
