Winter Event December 10, 2025

A winter weather advisory is in effect overnight through tomorrow afternoon. Snowfall is expected to begin around 2 a.m., with an expected total accumulation between 5cm to 10cm. Some sleet or freezing rain is possible. In response to the impending weather event, Operational Services crews are implementing proactive measures to ensure public safety and keep the city moving. Staff are closely monitoring weather conditions and have begun pre-treating priority roadways to lessen the storm's impact. As snowfall is expected to continue, plowing and salting operations will follow our winter control plan in priority, to clear the city's extensive 1,400 lane kilometres.

Residents are reminded to keep vehicles off the roads to allow plow crews to operate efficiently. Everyone, including our plow drivers, want to get home safe, so please practice caution around plows, keep your distance and avoid passing.

Once the snow stops falling, the City activates a 24 hour clock whereby service requests to Operational Services are temporarily paused while crews focus on clean-up efforts. Once a snow free 24-hour period transpires, Operational Services staff resume responding to individual concerns and service requests in priority order.
