Council is seeking 1 Citizen Appointee

The purpose of the Brantford Accessibility Advisory Committee is to act as the advisory body on matters related to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and universal accessibility within Brantford. Meetings are typically held quarterly at 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

The purpose of the Brantford Airport Board is to give advice and recommendations to Council in respect of the operation of the Brantford Municipal Airport. Meetings are typically held monthly on Mondays at 3:00 p.m.

The purpose of the Brantford Heritage Committee is to act as a municipal heritage committee as permitted by the Ontario Heritage Act. The Brantford Heritage Committee is an Advisory Committee. Meetings are typically held monthly on Mondays at 6:00 p.m.

Council is seeking 1 Citizen Appointee

The Brantford Police Services Board's mandate is legislated by the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 and can be summarized as the general management, budget setting and setting of policing policy. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at the Police Station at 344 Elgin Street, Brantford.

Council is seeking 5 Citizen Appointees

This Corporation and its board will be responsible for the management of 50% of the Municipal Accommodation Tax funds collected for the sole purpose of supporting tourism infrastructure and tourism product development in Brantford. Compensation for board members is expected to be approximately $100 per meeting per board member, at the discretion of the new board once established. Meetings are quarterly on Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m.

A Municipal Accommodation Tax is a tax imposed by a local government or municipality on the price of overnight accommodations in its jurisdiction. Typically applied to hotels, motels, and other lodging establishments, this tax is collected from guests at the time of their booking. By implementing this tax on accommodations, municipalities can fairly distribute the costs of hosting tourists and maintaining tourism-related amenities, all without burdening local residents with increased taxes.

Council is seeking 7 Citizen Appointee

The purpose of the Committee of Adjustment is to perform the following functions, subject to the provisions and requirements of the Planning Act:

1. grant minor variances from the provisions of all by-laws of the City of Brantford which implement the Official Plan; and
2. grant consents (or such other equivalent powers) which may from time to time be conferred on the City pursuant to the Planning Act, or otherwise.

Meetings are typically held monthly on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

Council is seeking 11 Citizen Appointees

The Downtown Brantford BIA Board of Management is responsible for overseeing the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally owned land, buildings and structures, and to promote the area as a business and/or shopping area. This is a four-year term and is a volunteer position. Meetings are typically every other month at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The purpose of the Environmental Policy Advisory Committee is to give recommendations and advice to Council with respect to environmental policy issues. Meetings are typically held every other month on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

Council is seeking 3 Citizen Appointees

The purpose of the Planning Advisory Committee is to meet as required under Section 8 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P. 13.

The mandate of the Planning Advisory Committee is to give advice and guidance on land use planning matters to the Council of the City with respect to:

1. The development of a new Official Plan and Zoning By-law including any related comprehensive reviews of said documents as well as any City initiated technical amendments to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law. 

Meetings take place as required.
