Child Care and Early Learning

The Children's Services and Early Years Department provides support to families in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant to by offering a series of services including help finding quality child care, applying for child care subsidy to reduce costs, connecting families to free, quality drop-in programs and supporting children with special needs in licensed child care.

As the service system manager, the City of Brantford also supports individuals who operate Child Care Centres and Licensed Home Child Care providers, and EarlyON providers. Emergency Child Care

On April 12, 2021 the Premier of Ontario announced Emergency Child Care for School-Aged children for the period of upcoming elementary school closure.  

To be eligible for Emergency Child Care for School Aged children 

  1. Child must have been enrolled in school as of December 31, 2020.
  2. Parents must live or work in the City of Brantford or the County of Brant
  3. Parent must have no other child care option for that period of time.
  4. Parent must be eligible as per Provincial list.

Parents may apply for Emergency Child Care on-line through OneLIST. Centres accepting applications for Emergency Child Care include:

  • A Child’s Paradise
  • Cobblestone Child Care
  • Boys & Girls Club - Kiddy Korner Daycare
  • Boys & Girls Club – Banbury Child Care

In order for the space to be without cost, parents must also complete a registration process through the Children’s Services Fee Subsidy Program.  Click https://daycare.brantford.ca/olaf/en-ca/welcome to initiate this process.

EarlyON Child and Family Programs

EarlyON Child and Family programs will be offered in accordance with provincial direction. In-person EarlyON programs are suspended during the Ontario government provincewide emergency brake shutdown. EarlyON services continue to include virtual Parent and Child programs, virtual Parent Chats, telephone and email support and EarlyON Videos on the EarlyON You Tube Channel.
