Liquor Licence Inspection

Retrofit 9.5 inspections

Please contact us to arrange your Retrofit 9.5 Inspection. See part 9 of the Fire Code for more information.

This applies to buildings up to and including 6 storeys in building height with residential occupancies and containing:

  • More than 2 dwelling units where at least 2 dwelling units share common exit facilities and have interior access to one another; there is at least 1 dwelling unit located above another with interior access to one another; or there is at least 1 dwelling unit located above another and the dwelling units share common exit facilities.
  • Sleeping accommodation for more than 10 persons, in 1 or more dormitories.
  • Boarding, lodging or rooming accommodation for more than 3 persons where Sections 9.3 and 9.4. do not apply.
  • 1 or 2 dwelling units in combination with boarding, lodging or rooming accommodation for 2 or 3 persons, excluding the operator's residence.

Retrofit 9.8 inspections

This applies to a detached house, semi-detached house or row house containing 2 existing dwelling units, where:

  • The building is 3 storeys or less in building height.
  • The building area does not exceed 600 m2.
  • 1 dwelling unit or a portion of a dwelling unit is situated above another dwelling unit, or 2 dwelling units side by side share a common interior means of escape.

Owners of buildings, properties, or businesses are required to have a Fire Safety Plan under the Ontario Fire Code.

The Smoke Alarm/Carbon Monoxide Alarm Verification Form can be used by property owners and landlords to test or install smoke alarms or carbon monoxide alarms in residential rental properties.
