Community Engagement
We recognize the importance of involving citizens in the development of policy, programs and services and are committed to ensuring there is a range of opportunities for the community to become knowledgeable about local government and actively involved in civic life.
It is important that our policies, programs and the decisions of Council reflect the diverse voices, ideas and opinions of our community.
The City's Community Involvement Framework provides a clear, consistent, and transparent approach to how residents, businesses, and community partners are engaged in municipal decision-making. Guided by principles such as inclusivity, accessibility, and accountability, the Framework ensures that community input is meaningfully considered through a tiered engagement process that reflects the scale and impact of each initiative. The City is committed to providing open, respectful, and accessible opportunities for participation, and to reporting back on what we hear and how public feedback helps inform decisions.
What we heard
Listening to our community is a key part of meaningful engagement. This section shares summaries and reports from recent engagement initiatives, highlighting the feedback we received and the themes that emerged. We are committed to closing the loop by showing how community input helps inform recommendations to City Council, City planning, policies, programs, and Council decision‑making.
