Nomination Information

Candidate Application Packages, including Nomination forms, can be picked up at the City Hall Customer Service Desk starting April 20 at 9:00 a.m.

Nominations may be filed by Candidates at the Clerk's office at any time, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays), from Monday, May 1, 2026 to Friday, August 21, 2026. The last day to file a Nomination is Friday, August 21, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Candidates for Council require 25 endorsement signatures in the prescribed form in order to file a Nomination. School Board Trustee Candidates have been exempted from this requirement by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.

Candidates must file their Nominations forms in person at City Hall, located at 58 Dalhousie Street. It is expected that Candidates have completed all of the required forms and reviewed the necessary information provided in the Candidate Package before they arrive to file their Nomination.

When Candidates arrive, they will meet with the City Clerk or designate, who will proceed to complete the Nomination Checklist with the Candidate. If satisfied with the information provided, the City Clerk or designate will receive the Nomination.Nominations will not be formally certified by the City Clerk until Monday, August 24, 2026.

The forms required to submit a nomination for the Municipal and School Board elections can be found below or picked up at City Hall. Please take some time to review the key dates for candidates to consider when making their election plans.

Please complete but DO NOT SIGN the forms. The Forms will be signed at Brantford City Hall in front of the City Clerk or designate when the Nomination Forms are received.

NOTE: Some forms may require Adobe Reader to view. 

For your convenience, it is recommended that you schedule a meeting with the Clerks Department Municipal Election team to file your nomination forms.
