Please be advised that if you are successful in the application process for any of the City of Brantford Task Forces, Committees or Advisory Boards, there is mandatory training that must be completed prior to the start of your term.

Council is seeking 1 Citizen Appointee

The purpose of the Brantford Accessibility Advisory Committee is to act as the advisory body on matters related to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and universal accessibility within Brantford. Meetings are typically held quarterly at 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

Council is seeking 5 Citizen Appointees

The purpose of the Brantford Airport Board is to give advice and recommendations to Council in respect of the operation of the Brantford Municipal Airport. Meetings are typically held monthly on Mondays at 3:00 p.m.

Council is seeking 3 Citizen Appointees

The purpose of the Brantford Heritage Committee is to act as a municipal heritage committee as permitted by the Ontario Heritage Act. The Brantford Heritage Committee is an Advisory Committee. Meetings are typically held monthly on Mondays at 6:00 p.m.

7 citizen members to be appointed for a term to expire in November 2030.

Citizen members are qualified to be appointed as a member of the Board if they are:

• at least 18 years old;
• a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
• a resident of Brantford; and
• not employed by the Library Board or by the municipality.

Information Session

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend one of the following information sessions to learn more about the Board’s role, composition, qualifications, meeting dates and meeting times, and to have the opportunity to ask questions before applying for membership:

• Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

The information sessions run approximately one hour in length and will be held in the Library Boardroom, 3^rd Floor, Brantford Public Library, Main Branch, 173 Colborne Street, Brantford.  If you are unable to attend an information session, questions about the Library Board can be directed to lboard@brantfordlibrary.ca.

Council is seeking 1 Citizen Appointee

The Brantford Police Services Board's mandate is legislated by the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 and can be summarized as the general management, budget setting and setting of policing policy. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at the Police Station at 344 Elgin Street, Brantford.

Council is seeking 5 Citizen Appointees

This Corporation and its board will be responsible for the management of 50% of the Municipal Accommodation Tax funds collected for the sole purpose of supporting tourism infrastructure and tourism product development in Brantford. Compensation for board members is expected to be approximately $100 per meeting per board member, at the discretion of the new board once established. Meetings are quarterly on Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m.

A Municipal Accommodation Tax is a tax imposed by a local government or municipality on the price of overnight accommodations in its jurisdiction. Typically applied to hotels, motels, and other lodging establishments, this tax is collected from guests at the time of their booking. By implementing this tax on accommodations, municipalities can fairly distribute the costs of hosting tourists and maintaining tourism-related amenities, all without burdening local residents with increased taxes.

Council is seeking 7 Citizen Appointee

The purpose of the Committee of Adjustment is to perform the following functions, subject to the provisions and requirements of the Planning Act:

1. grant minor variances from the provisions of all by-laws of the City of Brantford which implement the Official Plan; and
2. grant consents (or such other equivalent powers) which may from time to time be conferred on the City pursuant to the Planning Act, or otherwise.

Meetings are typically held monthly on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

The purpose of the Economic Development, Tourism and Cultural Initiatives Advisory Committee is to give advice and recommendations to Council in respect of a holistic view of economic development, tourism and cultural initiatives in the Brantford community. Meetings are typically every other month at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The purpose of the Environmental Policy Advisory Committee is to give recommendations and advice to Council with respect to environmental policy issues. Meetings are typically held every other month on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

Council is seeking 3 Citizen Appointees

The purpose of the Planning Advisory Committee is to meet as required under Section 8 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P. 13.

The mandate of the Planning Advisory Committee is to give advice and guidance on land use planning matters to the Council of the City with respect to:

1. The development of a new Official Plan and Zoning By-law including any related comprehensive reviews of said documents as well as any City initiated technical amendments to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law. 

Meetings take place as required.
