Market Centre Parkade Hill Street exit closed
Beginning Monday, April 27, the Hill Street exit of the Market Centre Parkade will be temporarily closed to accommodate ongoing construction. This closure is tentatively scheduled to last up to 6 weeks.
During this time, entrances are available via Icomm Drive, Hill Street, Wharfe Street and the Farmers’ Market parking lot. The only exit from the parkade is located on Icomm Drive.

Phase 1 Construction
Construction of Phase 1 of the Downtown Revitalization Project is underway with work on Brant Avenue and Icomm Drive. Residents are encouraged to follow posted detour routes to support the efficient movement of traffic in and around the construction area.
Where work is happening
Work starting in 2025 to be completed by late fall 2026:
- Brant Avenue: Colborne Street to Dalhousie Street, including the Brant Avenue/Colborne Street intersection.
- Icomm Drive: Colborne Street to Market Street South.
- Icomm Drive: Market Street South to Clarence Street South.
Work starting in 2026 to be completed by late fall 2026:
- Dalhousie Street: Brant Avenue to Bridge Street.
- Colborne Street: Brant Avenue to King Street.
- Hill Street: Icomm Drive to Water Street.

Suggested detour routes
During construction, Brant Avenue (Dalhousie Street to Colborne Street) and Icomm Drive (Colborne Street to Clarence Street) will generally be reduced to a single southbound/eastbound lane. Detour routes will help keep traffic moving into and around the downtown. Short periods of full closures or longer delays may be required at times to safely complete certain work. Signage and traffic controls will be in place to guide vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The following routes are recommended for those travelling through or accessing downtown while construction is underway:
- Eagle Place bypass option
- East Ward bypass option
- Terrace Hill bypass option
- West Brant bypass option
Active transportation detour
Cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to follow signed alternate routes around construction areas.
Sidewalks and crossings will remain open where safe and possible.
Parking
The Market Centre Parkade (59 Icomm Drive) will remain open throughout construction. While some access points may be closed, signage will direct drivers to open entrances and exits. On-street parking and municipal lots are also available in the downtown core. For more information, visit our Parking Services page.
Supporting local businesses
Where possible, sidewalks and storefront entryways will remain open during construction. Please continue to shop local.
