Annual maintenance of several Public Art pieces scheduled for August 18 to 22
BRANTFORD, ON – From August 18 to 22, 2025, the City of Brantford will be completing scheduled annual maintenance of the following public art pieces:
- Brant War Memorial, 6 Dalhousie Street
- Brook Trout, TH&B Rail Trail at Colborne Street West
- Federal Building Lions, 60 Dalhousie Street
- Lorne Park Sundial, 15 Colborne Street West
This routine work helps preserve and protect these important public art pieces so that they can continue to be enjoyed by residents and visitors. While maintenance is underway, some areas around these features may be temporarily inaccessible.
The City of Brantford’s Economic Development, Tourism & Cultural Initiatives Department is responsible for the annual maintenance of the City’s Public Art Collection. Public art is often at risk of damage by the environment and/or human interaction with the pieces. Specifically, factors that affect the City’s bronze monuments include humidity, UV light, acid rain, poor water drainage, proximity to city streets, and public use. The pieces will be conserved onsite by a conservator accredited with the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators.
