Brantford’s Resource Fair is a success among seniors
BRANTFORD, ON – Nearly 500 older adults celebrated International Seniors Day at Brantford’s Seniors Resource Fair on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The free event held at Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre provided attendees with a wide range of resources and services to help them live well, stay connected, and remain active participants in the community.
The event was hosted by the City of Brantford, in partnership with Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO) and through funding support from the Government of Ontario. The Fair included 38 booths from senior-serving organizations to educate attendees about what resources and services are available to them in the Brantford community.
“It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout and genuine interest in the programs the City of Brantford offers for our active aging community,” says Terri Palmateer, Fitness Coordinator, Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. “The enthusiasm throughout the event was evident, and it’s clear that the Seniors Resource Fair has the potential to grow next year.”
The Seniors Resource Fair also offered engaging presentations on various topics, such as Aging with Intention, Safe Winter Driving and Fire Safety at Home, as well as health clinics and demonstrations, including a blood pressure clinic and hearing screening.
“The Canadian Mental Health Association, Brant Haldimand Norfolk Branch was proud to be a part of this important event,” Lill Petrella, Team Lead, Mental Health Promotion, Canadian Mental Health Association Brant Haldimand Norfolk Branch. “The sheer magnitude of attendance speaks volumes to the need in the community for information and events geared to seniors. Looking forward to being a part of this event again next year. Kudos to the organizers for a very successful day.”
