City of Brantford holiday season schedule changes 2025-2026

Brantford, ON - For the public’s information, the following schedule changes will be in place during the upcoming holiday season from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 to Friday, January 2, 2026.

Brantford City Hall 

Brantford City Hall will be closed on statutory holidays including December 25, 26, 2025 and January 1, 2026 and will remain open during its standard business hours on all non-holiday weekdays. Please note that Customer Service will be unable to process payments after 2 p.m. on December 31, 2025 as our payment systems transition to the new year. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift

Wednesday, December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve)

• Brantford Transit will offer regular service until 6:30 p.m.
• Branford Lift will offer regular service until 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day)

• Brantford Transit offers no service on Christmas Day
• Branford Lift offers no service on Christmas Day

Friday, December 26, 2025 (Boxing Day)

• Brantford Transit will offer service from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (New Year’s Eve)

• Brantford Transit will offer regular service until 1 a.m., with FREE hourly service from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
• Branford Lift will offer regular service until 1 a.m., with FREE service from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

Thursday, January 1, 2026 (New Year’s Day)

• Brantford Transit offers no service on New Year’s Day
• Branford Lift offers no service on New Year’s Day

Curbside collection and Landfill

The City of Brantford’s curbside collection will be adjusted the weeks of December 25, 2025 and January 1, 2026 due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Waste collection services including garbage, recycling and green bin will not take place on Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25, 2025) and New Year’s Day (Thursday, January 1, 2026). Collection will occur one day later than regular scheduled collection days on Friday, December 26, 2025 and Saturday, December 27, 2025 and from Friday, January 2, 2026 to Saturday, January 3, 2026. 

The City of Brantford will collect Christmas trees at the curb from Monday, January 5, 2026 to Friday, January 16, 2026. Only Christmas trees placed out during this time will be collected. After Friday, January 16, residents will be responsible for disposing of trees themselves. Place your tree visible at the curb before 7 a.m. to take advantage of our Merry Mulch program. Please remember to remove ornaments, tinsel, tree stands and plastic bags from Christmas trees. Christmas trees longer than 8 feet must be cut in half.

Food related plastics (1 through 7), cardboard tubes, cardboard boxes and cartons can be recycled. Only wrapping paper that is 100 per cent plain paper can be recycled. Metallic or cellophane wrapping paper, tissue paper and styrofoam are not recyclable and should be put in the garbage.

The Mohawk Street Landfill Site will be open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be closed on Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25, 2025) and New Year’s Day (Thursday, January 1, 2026).

Branlyn Community Centre (238 Brantwood Park Rd.):

Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre (333 Erie Ave.):

Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst

Residents can walk or drive thru and enjoy the annual Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant (20 Ava Rd.) until Thursday, January 1, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. Monetary donations are gratefully accepted and help support Glenhyrst’s community endeavors. Non-perishable food donations to the Brantford Food Bank and Salvation Army are greatly appreciated. Limited free parking is available. Altitude Coffee Roasters will be on-site on Fridays and Saturdays to purchase a warm beverage while you stroll.

Brantford New Year’s Eve Celebration on December 31, 2025

Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Brantford on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. The evening begins with a free Holiday DJ Skate in Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie St.), weather permitting, from 7 p.m. to midnight. Join the line-up of free live entertainment at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts (88 Dalhousie St.) at 9 p.m. with music featuring David Bowie tribute artist, Steve McPhail, followed by Queen’s Court just after 10 p.m. performing a tribute to Queen. Guests can get receive free keepsake photos at the photo booth and party favours.
