Downtown construction update and Market Centre Parkade access changes

Downtown Brantford New Downtown Underway

BRANTFORD, ON – Construction continues as part of Phase 1 of the Downtown Revitalization Project, with underground infrastructure work progressing and traffic controls remaining in place along Icomm Drive between Brant Avenue and Clarence Street South. One lane remains open in each direction between Hill Street and Clarence Street South. Motorists are asked to follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.

Market Centre Parkade access changes

Beginning Monday, January 12, the main entrance and exit to the Market Centre Parkade, located at the intersection of Market Street South and Icomm Drive, will be closed until March 31, 2026 to accommodate ongoing construction.

During this time, alternative entrances will remain available via Hill Street, Wharfe Street, and the Brantford Farmers’ Market. The only exit from the parkade will be located at the west end, exiting onto Hill Street.

What’s next

  • While the Brantford Farmers’ Market remains open for business as usual, the main (westmost) driveway on Icomm Drive will be temporarily closed at times to support construction activities. Alternate driveway access will be maintained via the eastmost driveway on Icomm Drive and Clarence Street South.
  • Crews will begin removing asphalt on Icomm Drive up to the Market Street South intersection this week.
  • Installation of new underground infrastructure will also begin next week, with up to 310 metres of pipe being installed on Icomm Drive as part of critical underground upgrades.
