Housing and Homeless Services

The City of Brantford believes communities thrive when everyone has a place to call home. As the Service Manager for housing and homelessness services for both the City of Brantford and the County of Brant, the City works collaboratively with community partners to prevent and end homelessness by helping people find and maintain safe, stable, and affordable housing.

Through a Coordinated Access approach, individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness are connected to the housing, financial, health, social, and community supports they need. The City leads the Brantford-Brant Coordinated Access Table, the City of Brantford Encampment Network, and serves as the Community Entity for the federal Reaching Home program.

The City also owns and operates approximately 1,300 community and affordable housing units and oversees more than 700 additional units owned and operated by 12 non-profit and co-operative housing providers. Guided by the City’s new 10-Year Housing Stability Plan, the Brantford-Brant Municipal Housing Master Plan, and the Affordable Housing Action Plan developed through the Mayor's Housing Task Force, the City continues to work with housing providers, landlords, developers, community agencies, and all levels of government to expand affordable housing options and create a more responsive and integrated housing and homelessness system across the region.
