City of Brantford recognized nationally for quality homelessness data by Built for Zero Canada
Brantford, ON: As the Community Entity for the federal Reaching Home Program for both the City of Brantford and the County of Brant, the City is proud to announce that we have been recognized by the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) for achieving Foundations Quality By-Name Data 4.0 status through the Built for Zero Canada initiative. Brantford-Brant is now one of only nine communities in Canada to reach this milestone, confirming our progress toward ending homelessness through reliable, real-time data.
To achieve this certification, the City met rigorous national standards, including a 13/13 score on the By-Name Data Scorecard 4.0, completion of system mapping and outreach coordination tools, and submission of three consecutive months of reliable data. The community has also set a baseline month of July 2025, which will serve as a foundation to measure reductions in homelessness over time.
This recognition is part of Brantford’s broader recent housing successes as we continue to make meaningful progress across the entire housing spectrum. The City has 273 municipally developed affordable housing units either completed or underway, representing 54 percent of its 2030 target. An additional 42 non-profit units are currently under construction with City funding support, and private developers have delivered 38 affordable units through Municipal Housing Facilities Agreements.
Brantford has also earned an A+ rating for housing starts from RESCON and the University of Ottawa, placing it among only a handful of municipalities recognized at this level. Together, these achievements demonstrate that Brantford is building for everyone, advancing affordable housing, supporting non-profit partners, and enabling responsible private development to strengthen the local economy and community well-being.
Mayor Kevin Davis commended Housing and Homelessness staff on this recognition saying, “This acknowledgement demonstrates City staff’s high standards of professionalism and reporting accuracy. From affordable housing to new neighbourhoods, and now a national recognition of our homelessness data system, every partner and every project strengthens our community and brings us closer to achieving our housing goals.”
This recognition will also be celebrated as part of the City’s National Housing Day event on November 20, 2025, where Housing and Homelessness staff will highlight community partnerships and significant progress toward meeting our 2030 housing targets.
