International Film Series returns for winter 2026 season

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford, in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus, is pleased to announce the winter 2026 lineup for the International Film Series. The successful series includes impactful discussions about culturally diverse films followed by a free movie screening. The winter 2026 season will take place between January and April.

“The undertaking of the film series is to engage the community of Brantford and Wilfrid Laurier University in the spirit of public education and global engagement by providing a platform for meaningful reflections and dialogue,” explained Dr. Raymond Izarali, Acting Director of the Laurier Hub for Community Solutions.

The screenings will take place at the Steven and Helen Kun Theatre, located at in the Research and Academic Centre,150 Dalhousie St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the films beginning at 7 p.m. Registration is not required, and light refreshments are provided.

  • Zone of Interest (Germany), Wednesday, January 14
  • Le Passe (France/Iran), Wednesday, February 4
  • Perfect Days (Japan), Wednesday, February 18
  • Capernaum (Lebanon), Wednesday, March 4
  • Past Lives (South Korea), Wednesday, March 18
  • Amelie (France), Wednesday, April 1

The season kicked off with the German and Polish film “Zone of Interest”, that was selected for its relevance to Holocaust Remembrance Day. Over 25 filmgoers attended the screening on January 14, 2026.

“Many of the films we select for this series reflect Days of Importance,” said Pamela Pacheco, Manager of Social Development & Policy at the City of Brantford. “In addition to Holocaust Remembrance Day, this year’s winter films have been selected to emphasize International Mother Languages Day and Women’s History Month.”

Since the launch of the series in 2023, more than 700 people have attended screenings. This project continues to support the goals of the Brantford Immigration Partnership and OneBrantford: Inclusive City Strategy by providing opportunities for Brantford residents to engage in cultural experiences and celebrate diverse stories and perspectives.
