Brantford Transit route network changes take effect August 31, 2025
BRANTFORD, ON – Brantford Transit is making significant changes to improve how buses move throughout the city, and several route updates will take effect beginning August 31, 2025.
These updates are designed to provide more direct service, reduce travel times, and offer more reliable bus departures throughout the day and evening. Most routes will now operate into the evening, eliminating the need for separate evening-only routes.
Overview of route changes effective August 31:
- Introduction of two new routes: Route A, a core route providing two-way service between West Brant and Lynden Park Mall, and Route 20, offering two-way service between West Brant and the Northwest Industrial Area
- Improved connections to the Brantford General Hospital and the Northwest Industrial Area from more neighbourhoods, without the need to transfer at the Transit Terminal
- More dependable departure times throughout the day
- More frequent evening service on most routes
- Upgraded routing and schedules across multiple routes
- The Transit Terminal will no longer be the start and end point for all routes as part of the new network
- Optimization and merging of several routes to create more effective service patterns
To help passengers prepare for these changes, updated route maps and descriptions are available at Brantford.ca/TransitRouteChanges.
Brantford Transit will host a public open house on Wednesday, August 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Charlie Ward Room at City Hall (58 Dalhousie Street). This drop-in event will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the upcoming service changes, ask questions, and speak directly with staff about how the updated network may affect their travel.
These changes mark the implementation phase of the Moving Forward Transit Plan, developed through a two-stage community engagement process. In November 2023, residents were invited to share their transit experiences and priorities. That feedback was used to inform a draft plan, which was shared for public comment in April 2024. That input directly shaped the updated network design.
The next phase of implementation is expected in fall 2026. Additional service updates will be introduced at that time, with details to be communicated in advance.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the engagement process. Your feedback helped shape the future of transit in Brantford.
