Changes to Brantford Transit fare system effective October 6

BRANTFORD, ON – Brantford Transit is continuing its transition to the new BT Connect fare system. As of October 6, 2025, the following changes will take effect:

  • Old fare products, including the B-Card, old tickets, and passes, will no longer be accepted on Brantford Transit or Brantford Lift buses
  • Customers are asked to bring old fare products to the Brantford Transit Terminal during regular business hours to exchange them for new BT Connect fare products before October 6

  • Cash fares will no longer include transfers. Riders paying with cash will need to pay the full fare again when boarding another bus. To avoid paying twice, we encourage riders to switch to the BT Connect app or BT Connect Card, which continue to include free transfers between buses.

  • Outdated fareboxes and scanning equipment will be removed from all buses
  • All riders must use cash, the BT Connect mobile app or a BT Connect Card to pay their fare

Riders are reminded that a BT Connect account is required before using the app or obtaining a fare card. An email address is needed to create an account. If you do not have one, staff at the Brantford Transit Terminal can help set one up. For more information or support creating your BT Connect mobile app account, email BTConnect@brantford.ca.

Children 12 and under continue to ride for free but must obtain a BT Connect Card by visiting the Transit Terminal in person with proof of birth date.

We recognize that some riders have experienced challenges with the new fare system, particularly those without smartphones or email access. We are working to support riders through this transition and encourage anyone needing help to visit the Transit Terminal or contact Transit Customer Service at 519-753-3847 ext. 5934.
