City of Brantford celebrates Seniors Month with free activities

BRANTFORD, ON – To celebrate Seniors Month in June, the City of Brantford is pleased to offer a variety of free programs, activities, and workshops for adults ages 55 and older. Throughout the month, participants can enjoy opportunities to connect with others while staying active, learning new skills and exploring community resources through activities such as tai chi, yoga, pickleball, pottery painting, educational workshops, family swims and more.
Workshop on a Bus on Wednesday, June 17, is a free educational session hosted by the City to help older adults become more comfortable with navigating the transit system. Participants will take a guided bus ride to visit key community hubs including the Brantford Public Library, Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre and the Grand River Community health Centre.
Delivered in partnership with local organizations and community groups, these programs celebrate the valuable contributions of older adults while promoting active living lifelong learning, and social connection. Community partners include the Brant Elder Abuse Awareness Committee, Brantford Public Library, Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre, Grand River Community Health Centre, Grand River Council on Aging, Modo Yoga, and more.
Gen Connect
The City of Brantford is pleased to offer Gen Connect, a new intergenerational program to bring children and older adult family members together through shared experiences during PA Days throughout the 2026/2027 elementary school year. From hands-on activities to active play and creative experiences, each free session is designed to spark meaningful moments across generations. Prioritizing seniors' health and wellness and reducing social isolation are key components of the City of Brantford’s Healthy Aging Strategy and Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan. Programs offered during Seniors Month create opportunities for older adults to remain active and stay connected to the community, which can improve overall well-being.
