City of Brantford launches Automated Speed Enforcement program to support safer streets
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is moving forward with the launch of an Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program as part of ongoing efforts to make local streets safer for all road users.
ASE uses a combination of camera and speed measurement technology to detect vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit in designated community safety zones. The system is intended to help reduce speeding and change long-term driver behaviour.
“Municipal Speed Camera Coming Soon” signs will be installed at the following locations in the coming weeks in advance of camera operation, which is scheduled to begin later this fall:
- Colborne Street West (between Shellard Lane and Ballantyne Drive)
- Brant Avenue (between Bedford Street and West Street)
- Fairview Drive (between Memorial Drive and West Street)
- Colborne Street (between Glenwood Drive and Johnson Road)
- Dalhousie Street (between Clarence Street and Colborne Street)
Revenue collected from speeding fines will be reinvested in additional traffic safety initiatives across the city.
