Residents invited to learn more about the planned outdoor ice rink at Conklin Park

BRANTFORD, ON – Residents are invited to attend an open house to learn more about the planned outdoor ice rink facility at Conklin Park, 348 Murray Street. Free Sport For Growth, in collaboration with the City of Brantford, are hosting an open house on Thursday, November 27, 2025 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at King George School (265 Rawdon St). Attendees will have the opportunity to review design plans and ask questions of Free Sport For Growth representatives and City of Brantford staff.

“We’re excited to work with Free Sport For Growth to bring more outdoor recreational opportunities to residents,” says Kimberley Wyskiel, Director of Parks and Recreation, City of Brantford. “The open house is an opportunity for residents to review the impressive design concepts, learn more about future programming and ask questions.”

Free Sport For Growth is spearheading and raising funds for a covered outdoor ice rink facility at Conklin Park to provide additional outdoor recreational opportunities to the community. Plans for the new outdoor ice rink, intended to be open year-round, includes change areas, washrooms, refrigeration equipment, new ice-resurfacer, mechanical areas and storage, and a new gymnasium.

The cost of the new facility will be covered through a fundraising campaign led by Free Sport For Growth, in collaboration with Charles Jones Industrial Ltd. To reduce long-term operating costs, the proposed facility will be constructed using long-lasting, low-maintenance materials, including weather-resistant finishes, high-performance structural components, and mechanical systems designed to withstand harsh conditions.
