2026 Family Day weekend holiday programming and schedule changes

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to provide Family Day weekend programming for residents and visitors to enjoy. There will be schedule changes in place for some facilities on the Family Day holiday on Monday, February 16, 2026. There will be no changes to regularly scheduled garbage, recycling, and green bin collection.

Brantford’s Winter Fun Fest

The City of Brantford is the place to be this Family Day long weekend, offering a variety of free, family-friendly activities to keep you active and entertained. Enjoy ice-skating and swimming at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, pre-book a tour of the Bell Homestead National Historic Site for a special rate or join the excitement downtown at Harmony Square and One Market where fun activities for all ages will be offered.

On Sunday, February 15, join us in Harmony Square and 1 Market Square from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for indoor family fun, classic s’mores by a campfire and so much more. Enjoy a Horse Drawn Trolley ride through downtown Brantford from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., for $2 per person. Another featured attraction is the Hungry Human Hippos, a high-energy, life-sized version of the classic game hosted by Jam Sport on Harmony Square’s outdoor ice rink (weather permitting). Registration is required by Thursday, February 5, 2026 at www.JamSports.com/Tournaments.

The fun continues at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre with public swims offered from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, Sunday, February 15 and Monday, February 16, 2026. Regular swim rates and swim admission requirements will apply. Families can also drop-in and enjoy public skating on Sunday, February 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $4.50 per person, or free for children aged 4 and under.

Special guided tours of the Bell Homestead National Historic Site will be offered for only $2 per person on Monday, February 16, 2026. Children four and under are free. To reserve a spot, please call 519-756-6220 or email bellhomestead@brantford.ca.

City of Brantford facility schedule changes on Monday, February 16, 2026

Brantford City Hall, Customer Service and Parking Enforcement

Brantford City Hall, Parking Enforcement and Customer Service will be closed at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 13 and reopen on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. While closed, all customer service calls will be routed to the City’s after-hours provider that can be reached by calling the City’s Customer Service number at 519-759-4150.

Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift

  • Brantford Transit will not be offering service on Monday, February 16, 2026. Regular schedules resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
  • Brantford Lift will not be offering service on Monday, February 16, 2026. Regular schedules resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Bell Homestead National Historic Site

The Bell Homestead NHS will be open regular hours on Family Day, Monday, February 16, 2026 to offer special tours at the admission price of only $2 per person. Children four and under are free. To reserve a spot, please call 519-756-6220 or email bellhomestead@brantford.ca. The Bell Homestead NHS will be closed on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 and regular hours will resume on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Brantford Public Libraries

All City of Brantford library branches will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026 and reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. A self-serve kiosk will be available at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre with a valid library card.

Cemetery Services

The Brantford Cemetery Main Office will be closed at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 13 and reopen on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 8 a.m.

City of Brantford Community Centres

  • Branlyn Community Centre will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026. Regular schedules resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
  • Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026. Regular schedules resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
  • T.B. Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026. Regular schedules resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
  • Woodman Park Community Centre will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026. Regular schedules resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
  • TD Civic Centre will be open for pre-booked rentals on Monday, February 16, 2026.
  • Lions Park Arena will be open for pre-booked rentals on Monday, February 16, 2026.

City of Brantford Arenas

  • TD Civic Centre will be open for pre-booked rentals on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre

The Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, including the Discover Brantford Desk and Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition will be open regular hours on Monday, February 16, 2026. A special additional Family Day Public Swim will be offered on Monday, February 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Regular swim admission and swim admission requirements will apply.

Ontario Works Brantford-Brant Main Office

The Ontario Works Brantford-Brant main office at 225 Colborne Street will be closed on Monday, February 16 and reopen on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.

Mohawk Street Landfill

The Mohawk Street Landfill will be open regular hours on Monday, February 16, 2026.
