Purpose and Effect of Proposed Amendment

The proposed amendment to both the Downtown Community Improvement Plan (CIP) and the Greyfields CIP has been initiated by the City of Brantford. The City is proposing to amend the existing Tax Increment-Based Grant Program within each CIP to provide an additional incentive to encourage the adaptive reuse of historic properties with cultural heritage value. Program amendments address the scope and requirements for such adaptive reuse projects, eligible costs, and grant payment terms. The City is also undertaking housekeeping amendments to both CIPs to update references to relevant Provincial and Municipal policy documents (e.g. Provincial Planning Statement, 2024 and the City of Brantford Official Plan).
