Purpose of Proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment
Zoning by-law amendment application PZ-15-25 proposes City-initiated amendments to Zoning By-law 124-2024 to correct errors and omissions, and to update various zoning regulations. The Planning Department, in consultation with internal departments, has identified general housekeeping items and additional provisions that need further clarification and updating. The proposed changes include:
- Amending the transition provision to provide better clarity on its application.
- Amending general provisions respecting additional dwelling units to align with Ontario Regulation 299/19.
- Amending various general provisions (accessory structures, height exceptions, home occupations, waste enclosures, etc.) to provide clarity and improve application of regulations.
- Amending various definitions to better align with other by-laws and documents.
- Adding parking regulations for group homes, clarifying regulations respecting bicycle parking, electric vehicle parking, and amending loading space requirements for designated heritage properties.
- Adding zone regulations to permit mixed-use buildings to consist of 1, 2, or 3 dwelling units.
- Correcting site-specific zones that were incorrectly carried over from Zoning By-laws 160-90 and 61-16.

- If you wish to be notified of the decision of the City of Brantford you must make a written request to the Clerk, City of Brantford, City Hall, 58 Dalhousie Street, Brantford ON N3T 5R7.
- If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Brantford before the By-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the City of Brantford Council to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT). If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the City of Brantford before the By-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
- You may attend the Public Meeting in-person or virtually and you are encouraged to provide comments in writing or via email in advance of the meeting. Comments can be submitted by emailing the City Staff Contact noted above anytime prior to the meeting.
- In-Person: no registration is required. The Meeting Chair will call for members of the public in attendance to speak to the item.
