Applications now open for 2026 Starter Company Plus Grant Program
BRANTFORD, ON – The Brantford-Brant Business Resource Centre (BRC) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Starter Company Plus Grant Program. Entrepreneurs located in Brantford, County of Brant, Haldimand County, Norfolk County, and Six Nations of the Grand River are now eligible to apply online under three streams: starting a new business, buying an existing business, or expanding a current business. Applications are due by Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Delivered by the Brantford-Brant Business Resource Centre in partnership with the Province of Ontario, Starter Company Plus is designed to address local economic development needs and provide support to entrepreneurs at all stages of their journey. At the end of the program, participants will submit their business plan and pitch their business idea for the opportunity to secure a grant of up to $5,000.
“Starter Company Plus provides entrepreneurs with the tools, training and support they need to build a strong foundation for success,” said Mae Legg, Manager of the Economic Development & Business Resource Centre, City of Brantford. “We encourage local entrepreneurs to apply for this year’s program and take advantage of the opportunity to receive expert guidance, expand their professional network, and compete for a grant to help start or grow their business.”
Those selected to take part in the Starter Company Plus program will take part in bi-weekly in-person sessions running from September 10 to December 17, 2026. Program participants will receive guidance and support from BRC staff and mentors, as well as business training through a series of interactive workshops. This training will focus on business planning fundamentals, including financial literacy, operations, and market research, as well as individual coaching, mentoring and networking. Participants will also be offered support in creating a formalized business plan and can access a local network of businesses, resources, and information.
