Applications now open for 2026 Summer Company Student Grant Program
BRANTFORD, ON – The Brantford-Brant Business Resource Centre (BRC) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Summer Company Student Grant Program. Local aspiring entrepreneurs, ages 15 to 29 years old, who are considering starting and operating their own business this summer are encouraged to apply online at Brantford.ca/SummerCompany by Friday, May 15, 2026. Successful applicants will receive up to $3,000 in grant funds.
“The Summer Company Program continues to be one of the most impactful ways we support young entrepreneurs in our community,” says Mae Legg, Manager of Economic Development and Business Resource Centre, City of Brantford. “Each year, we’re inspired by the creativity, talent, and determination these students bring as they launch their own businesses. The program not only provides essential start-up funding, but also gives participants the confidence, skills, and hands-on experience they need to succeed in today’s evolving economy.”
For over 15 years, the BRC has proudly administered this program for students living in the City of Brantford, County of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and Six Nations of the Grand River. The program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and enables students to develop their own business and learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur and a leader. Past Summer Company businesses include: lawn care, dog treats, tennis coaching, senior services in health, wellness, and support, window washing, car detailing, pool cleaning, and 3D printing. Many Summer Company entrepreneurs continue operating their businesses throughout the year and/or across multiple summers.
"2025 was an unforgettable and incredible summer,” says Cowan Gelms, a 2025 Summer Company participant. “I was taught how to build and operate a company I never thought would exist. I learned discipline, how to manage my time and money, and how to effectively deal with customers. Thank you to Natalie and the team who made this possible. You changed my life".
