Brantford residents invited to Waste Discovery Day

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford invites residents to the second annual Waste Discovery Day: From Curb to Landfill on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mohawk Street Landfill, located at 20 Morrison Rd, Brantford. This free family friendly event aims to educate residents about the importance of proper waste disposal while providing fun activities for kids of all ages, including a bouncy castle, face painting, arts and crafts, and games. Free parking is also available on-site.

“Waste Discovery Day is a great opportunity for residents to see firsthand what happens to their waste after it leaves the curb and learn more about how our landfill operates,” says Derek Walker, Manager of Solid Waste and Gas Utilization, City of Brantford. “We’re excited to welcome the community for a closer look at waste management, while offering interactive displays and plenty of fun activities for the whole family.”

Attendees will have the chance to participate in a free guided tour of the landfill, where they will explore behind the scenes of waste disposal, meet with City staff, and have a chance to ask questions. Educational booths will be set up so residents can learn how waste is handled, how recycling and green bin use makes an impact, and what residents can do to reduce their environmental footprint.
