Canadian Navigable Waters Act Notice July 10, 2025

The Corporation of the City of Brantford hereby gives notice that an application has been made to the Minister of Transport, pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act for approval of the work described herein and its site and plans.

Pursuant to paragraph 7(2) of the said Act, The Corporation of the City of Brantford has deposited with the Minister of Transport, on the online Common Project Search Registry (http://cps.canada.ca/) under the NPP File Number 2025-414800 a description of the following work, its site and plans:

The work involves undertaking the rehabilitation of the existing Lorne Bridge. The scope of work includes installation of temporary environmental controls and temporary accesses for the duration of construction, repairs to the deck surface, replacement of expansion joints, concrete repairs to adjacent retaining walls, and the rehabilitation of the concrete pedestrian tunnel. In addition, there will be repairs to the piers and soffit, requiring suspended scaffolding for access. Following the completion of repairs to the Lorne Bridge, the temporary environmental controls and accesses installed at the beginning of the project will be removed. Work will be completed in two (2) stages from March 2026 to December 2026 in, on, over, and across the Grand River at Colborne St W east of Gilkison St (250 m) in the City of Brantford, in front of street address 10 Brant Ave, Brantford.
