Candidate education session for the 2026 Municipal Election

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford will host a candidate education session for individuals considering running in the 2026 Municipal Election.

This session provides an overview of the role and responsibilities of Council, along with practical insight from former councillors. An additional information session will be delivered after nominations close for individuals who have been formally certified as candidates.

Topics will include:

  • The role and authority of Council
  • Responsibilities of elected officials
  • Time commitments and workload expectations
  • Legislative and ethical requirements
  • What to expect during a term of office
  • Guest speaker: Rick O’Connor, MuniverseRO Consulting Inc. (former Clerk and City Solicitor, City of Ottawa)

A moderated question period will follow the presentations.

Date: Thursday, March 5
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Light refreshments: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Location: Council Chambers, Brantford City Hall, 58 Dalhousie Street

Virtual option now available

Individuals who prefer to attend virtually may participate via Zoom at 5:45 p.m. Advance registration is required for virtual attendance. Registration is not required to attend in person.
