City invites additional feedback on proposed Sports and Entertainment Centre
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is inviting residents to share their feedback on preliminary concept designs for a proposed new Sports and Entertainment Centre (SEC).
Planned for a central location in Brantford’s downtown core, the proposed facility would be positioned between Elements Casino and Earl Haig Family Fun Park. This site was selected to strengthen the downtown as a destination for sports, entertainment, and community gatherings, while supporting local businesses and encouraging new investment in the area.
The proposed Sports and Entertainment Centre is envisioned as a modern multi-purpose venue designed to host a wide range of events including hockey games, concerts, cultural celebrations, family shows, and community programming. By combining flexible event space with universal design principles, the Centre is intended to serve residents of all ages and abilities while drawing visitors from across the region.
How to Participate
Residents can take part in this phase of engagement by reviewing concept designs and sharing their feedback before City Council makes a final decision on advancing the project:
- Online Engagement – Concept designs and a survey are available at LetsTalkBrantford.ca/SEC. The survey invites input on key features including integration with the downtown area, seating layout, accessibility, and event flexibility.
- In-Person Open Houses – Three in person Open Houses will provide opportunities to view large-scale displays of the designs, speak with project team members, and ask questions:
- Open House 1: Wednesday, October 1, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Tournament Room, Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre
254 North Park Street, Brantford - Open House 2: Wednesday, October 8, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Walter Gretzky Golf Course
320 Balmoral Drive, Brantford - Open House 3: Thursday, October 16, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Bulldogs Lounge, Brantford & District Civic Centre
79 Market Street, Brantford
No registration is required. Residents are welcome to drop in at any time during Open House hours.
Input collected during this engagement will be summarized and reported to City Council before they determine whether to move forward with the next stage of the Sports and Entertainment Centre project. This is an important opportunity for residents to help shape one of the City’s most significant community-building initiatives, ensuring the proposed facility reflects local needs and aspirations.
