City of Brantford celebrates the return of Recreation, Parks and Seniors Month in June

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to offer residents a variety of recreational opportunities throughout June as part of Recreation, Parks and Seniors Month. From June 1 to 30, 2026, residents can explore an exciting and diverse lineup of free and low-cost activities for all ages and interests to enjoy.

In recognition of National Health and Fitness Day on Monday, June 1, 2026, the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre will offer free access to the weight room between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and free drop-in pickleball from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., for residents aged 13 and over. Additional activities throughout June include public swimming at a special price of only $2 with Toonie Tuesdays offered weekly from June 2 to 30, 2026 from 7:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Toonie Tuesday public swimming will also be offered at Woodman Pool (491 Grey St.) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to enjoy a swim outdoors. Swim Admission Requirements apply. Free fitness classes for residents ages 13 and older will also be offered throughout the month, including yoga on June 17 at 6:45 p.m., Aquafit on June 23 at 7 a.m., Zumba on June 26 at 6 p.m.

Free programming for children, youth, and older adults will also be offered throughout the month at community centres across the city. Youth ages 11 to 17 are invited to drop-in to Woodman Park Community Centre (491 Grey St.) on June 1, 2026 to play a game of basketball from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kids Night Out is a drop-in program that offers kids aged 4 to 10 an opportunity to spend a night out with friends enjoying games, crafts, sports and more. Kids Night Out will be offered for free during the month of June at a variety of locations throughout the city. Space is limited and participants are encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Learn more at www.Brantford.ca/KidsNightOut. Older adults aged 55 and over can also enjoy free shuffleboard at Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre on June 17 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents are also invited to enjoy a series of free outdoor concerts at the Bell Homestead NHS throughout June. Concerts include the Summer Dreams Concert featuring the Brant County Singers on June 14 at 3 p.m. (rain date June 28), the Summer Serenade Concert with the Brantford Memorial Concert Band on June 20 at 7 p.m. (rain date June 21 at 3 p.m.), the Harmony at the Homestead Concert featuring The Telephone City Music Society on June 27 at 7 p.m., and A Coast-to-Coast Journey in Song and Story, with the Pleasant Ridge singing group on June 30 at 7 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Concerts are free to attend, and donations in support of future Bell Homestead NHS events are welcome.

The City of Brantford’s splash pads open for the season in June, weather permitting. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., splash pads offer a free space to cool off and have fun at Anderson Road Park (70 Anderson Road), Bridle Path Park (55 Palomino Drive), Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie Street), Mohawk Park (51 Lynwood Drive) and Tutela Park (160 Erie Avenue).
