Construction work scheduled for Alexandra Park as part of Bell 150 Public Art Project

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is advising residents that preparatory construction work will take place this week in Alexandra Park as part of the Bell 150 Public Art Project, a new installation commemorating the 150th anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell's invention of the telephone in Brantford.

Contractors will be on site on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, weather permitting, to install two concrete foundation pads that will support the installation of a new permanent public artwork in the park. The public art piece is anticipated to be installed in spring 2027.

During construction, visitors may experience:

  • Temporary fencing around the work area.
  • Short-term restrictions to portions of Alexandra Park.
  • Construction vehicles and equipment operating within the park.
  • Minor noise associated with excavation and concrete installation activities.

Pedestrian access through the park will be maintained wherever possible and clearly identified through on-site signage. Residents and visitors are asked to respect all construction barriers and posted signage and to use caution when travelling near the work area. The City of Brantford appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while these improvements are completed.
