Downtown Revitalization Project weekly update: May 8 to 14, 2026

BRANTFORD, ON – Construction for Phase 1 of the Downtown Revitalization Project is underway, with underground infrastructure work continuing and traffic controls in place along Icomm Drive.

Traffic and access

Icomm Drive lane closures

One southbound lane remains open from Brant Avenue and Market Street South, with a single lane in each direction between Market Street South and Clarence Street South.

Market Centre Parkade access

The Hill Street exit is temporarily closed for construction and is expected to reopen by the end of June. All parkade entrances remain open. Vehicles must exit using Icomm Drive.

Upcoming work

Lorne Bridge Bell Canada utility relocation May 11 to 20, 2026

In the area of Brant Avenue and Colborne Street West, temporary lane and sidewalk closures will be required to allow for telecommunications work in advance of the Lorne Bridge rehabilitation. Pedestrian detours will be clearly marked.

Market Street South road closure May 19 to 22, 2026

Market Street South will be temporarily closed in front of the TD Civic Centre to complete watermain and sanitary servicing work related to the new Sports and Entertainment Centre.

Motorists are asked to follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.

Detour routes are being monitored and adjusted as needed to support traffic flow.
