Enjoy Brantford’s Harmony Square free summer activities all summer long!

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is offering a variety of free summer programming and events throughout July and August in Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie St.). Families can enjoy free outdoor movies and live music, children’s programming and character meet-and-greets, roller skating, chess, and fitness classes including yoga, BodyFit, CardioFit, and HIIT. The splash pad is now open daily to cool off from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. All activities are weather permitting.

“The Special events team is thrilled to welcome the community to Harmony Square downtown Brantford this summer for a season filled with free, diverse programming designed for all ages and interests,” says Jennifer Middleton, Special Events Supervisor for the City of Brantford. “We are very grateful to our community partners and sponsors for their generous support which helps create free, memorable experiences for residents and families to enjoy.”

Movies in the Square offers an exciting line-up of outdoor movies sponsored by local businesses, every Thursday at dusk, from July 9 to August 27, 2026. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy pre-show activities. Take part in weekly trivia on Harmony Square’s Facebook page for a chance to win the VIP treatment including two free drinks, two bags of popcorn and front row Muskoka chairs, sponsored by the Downtown Central Neighbourhood Association. Popcorn, sweet treats and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the concession will go to the Downtown Central Neighbourhood Association.

Music in the Square, presented by TD Bank Group, will have attendees up and dancing with live musical performances from local talent. Enjoy free, live music every Friday evening at 7 p.m., from July 10 to August 28, 2026. The summer music series kicks off on July 10, 2026 with Elvis in the Square, an Elvis & Co Crown Production, offering an electrifying night under the stars, featuring Champion Elvis Tribute Artist Connor Russo, accompanied by The Casino Brothers Band and The Roulettes. 

Matinees in the Square provide a symphony of live acoustic sets on select Sundays at 3 p.m. featuring the Telephone City Musical Society on July 5, Sivle on July 19 and Dan Taylor’s music students on August 9, 2026.

Roller Skate in the Square, presented by Contact Brant, will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, featuring a live D.J. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., from July 6 to August 26, 2026. Onsite registration is required. Skate rentals are $5 plus tax, per pair but attendees are welcome to bring their own. Roller Skate in the Square will not be offered on the Civic Holiday, Monday, August 3, 2026.

Fitness in the Square returns with free drop-in fitness classes from July 6 to August 28, 2026, in partnership with Laurier Brantford YMCA. Classes include High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on Mondays from 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m., excluding Monday, August 3, 2026, Yoga on Tuesdays from 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., BodyFit on Wednesdays from 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m., and CardioFit on Fridays from 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m. Classes are instructed by a canfitpro certified Fitness Instructor. No previous experience required, all fitness levels are welcome. In case of inclement weather, Fitness in the Square will be held indoors at the YMCA (100 Water St.), please check in at the main desk upon arrival.

Character Meet and Greets include visits with the Glass Slipper Company’s Mermaid Princess, Snow Queen, Tower Princess, the Phantom Spider and more, presented by Contact Brant. A rotation of characters will bring magic to the square every Tuesday from July 7 to August 25, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Kids can tap into their creativity by colouring a page of the character, then take a photo with them and have their work of art autographed. In the event of rain, the meet and greet will take place in the lobby of the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts (88 Dalhousie St.).

Chess in the Square returns on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. from July 7 to August 27, 2026 with the Brantford Chess Club. Additional Chess Tournaments will be held Sunday, July 26 and Sunday, August 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Playdate in the Square with the Brantford Public Library will have children blowing bubbles, playing giant games and much more, weather permitting, every Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. from July 8 to August 19, 2026.

Fun in the Sun Family Gatherings will offer family-fun and Indigenous cultural learning through fun crafts, science experiments, painting, and more, with Family Gatherings Urban EarlyON. This program takes place on Mondays from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. from July 6 August 17, 2026, excluding Monday, August 3, 2026.

Families can cool off this summer at the splash pad, now open daily from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Program closure dates for July and August, along with real-time splash pad open and close status, can be found at Brantford.ca/SplashPads and on Harmony Square’s Facebook page.
