GRCA Terminates Flood Warning and Flood Watch - March 16, 2026
The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is terminating the Flood Warning and Flood Watch messages previously in effect. A Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety has been issued for the entire Grand River watershed due to the continued high river levels and unsafe conditions near local waterways.
High flows observed throughout the watershed as a result of warmer temperatures and rain since Saturday, March 7, 2026, have receded. Most of the rivers are ice free; however, ice cover is visible in some areas. While flows are receding, water levels remain high in local waterways.
Stay Safe
Higher flows will increase the safety risk around rivers, streams, and waterbodies throughout the watershed. Banks adjacent to local waterways are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. With the start of the March school break, families are advised to keep children and pets away from all water bodies. The public is encouraged to exercise extreme caution around local waterways.
The City continues to monitor river conditions and forecasts. For more information on flood preparedness and safety visit: www.Brantford.ca/Flooding.
