Preparations begin for Lorne Bridge rehabilitation
BRANTFORD, ON – Beginning as early as April 28, 2026, Bell Canada will begin work to relocate utility infrastructure in the Lorne Bridge area. This work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of May and is an important step in preparing for full construction of the Lorne Bridge rehabilitation.
What to expect
- Temporary area lane and sidewalk closures.
- The northernmost westbound lane on the Lorne Bridge will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the remaining lanes.
- Traffic will be reduced to a single southbound lane from Colborne Street to Market Street South due to ongoing construction along Icomm Drive.
- Pedestrian detours will be in place throughout the area.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.
Businesses in the area remain open during construction. Residents and visitors are encouraged to continue supporting local businesses.
