Taxes due on Friday, February 27, 2026

BRANTFORD, ON – A friendly reminder that City of Brantford municipal taxes are due on Friday, February 27, 2026, for instalment 1 and on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, for instalment 2. If you have not received a tax bill, please contact the Property Tax Office at 519-759-4150. Property owners enrolled in monthly pre-authorized payment plans or those whose property taxes are paid through their mortgage company will not receive an interim bill.

There are a number of ways you can pay your taxes.

You can pay your taxes in person, using a drop-box, from your financial institution, by mail or through a pre-authorized payment plan.

Municipal Taxes can be paid at City Hall. You can pay your taxes in person at Customer Service at Brantford City Hall at 58 Dalhousie Street during regular business hours Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please note that the customer service counter has been temporarily relocated to the second floor due to the City Hall Customer Service Front Counter Expansion Project taking place on the first floor. Members of the public seeking in‑person services are asked to continue using the public entrance on the main floor of City Hall and to check in with Security Services upon arrival, who will provide access to the second-floor customer service counter for those who require in‑person assistance.

Municipal Taxes can be paid using our drop box. An after-hours drop box is located at the Queen Street entrance of City Hall at the top of the accessibility ramp. You can leave post-dated cheques and the payment stubs for both instalments early to avoid missing due dates. Please do not put cash in the drop-box.

You can pay your taxes from your financial institution (banks, credit union, etc.) through online banking, telephone banking, at an automatic teller or in person. To pay your taxes through online banking, you will need to sign on to your financial institution’s secure website and use your property tax account number.

Our pre-authorized tax payment plans enable you to make 12 monthly payments, or four instalment payments, per year that are withdrawn from your bank account and credited to your property tax account. Property owners can register for pre-authorized payment plans through the Property Tax Portal or using an online form available at www.Brantford.ca/PaymentPlan.

Taxes can be paid by mail to P.O. Box 515, Brantford, ON N3T 6L6. Cheques should be made payable to the ‘City of Brantford’. Be sure to include the instalment stub with your payment to ensure proper credit to your account.

Property Tax Portal

Property owners in Brantford have a convenient way to review their property tax information online using the City’s new Property Tax Portal. With the new portal, property owners can easily and securely: check property tax information or account balance; get and review property tax bills electronically; sign up for and manage pre-authorized payments; print a free copy of a tax statement or final tax bill; and update mailing address or contact information. Visit www.Brantford.ca/TaxPortal to learn more and create an account.

Penalty and Interest Charges

Penalty and/or interest is calculated on the overdue tax balance on the first day of each month, at a rate of 1.25 per cent until paid. To avoid late payment charges, payments must be received on or before the due date. The City of Brantford does not accept the postmark as proof of the date of receipt. Late payment charges are set by the City of Brantford by-laws and cannot be changed or waived. As per the Municipal Act, not receiving a tax bill does not relieve the owner from the obligation to pay taxes when due.
