Temporary closure of Icomm Drive and Market Street South intersection beginning March 4
BRANTFORD, ON – Beginning Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the intersection of Icomm Drive and Market Street South will be closed to complete necessary underground infrastructure installations related to the ongoing downtown revitalization project. Recent investigations confirmed that crews must adjust the alignment of the trunk sanitary sewer and replace an existing watermain to safely work around old infrastructure buried beneath the intersection. Because of the depth and complexity of this work, the intersection must remain closed for several weeks and is expected to re-open by the end of April 2026. Motorists are asked to follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.
During this closure, alternative entrances to the Market Centre Parkade will remain available via Hill Street, Wharfe Street, and the Brantford Farmers’ Market parking lot. The only exit from the parkade is located at the west end, exiting onto Hill Street. A protected pedestrian crossing slightly west of the Market Street South intersection will be maintained to accommodate safe crossing for shoppers, as well as Elements Casino and TD Civic Centre patrons.
Businesses in the area remain open during construction, and residents and visitors are encouraged to continue supporting local businesses.
The City appreciates the community’s patience as this necessary infrastructure work continues. Updates on lane closures and construction impacts are available at Brantford.ca/DowntownDetours.
