City of Brantford announces 2026 Remembrance Day Services

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is proud to join fellow Canadians on Remembrance Day as we pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who served and continue to serve our country during times of war, military conflict and peace. We encourage members of our community to join us on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 as we remember, with deep respect and immense gratitude, the remarkable sacrifices of others.

An overnight lighting display will take place at the Brant War Memorial (6 Dalhousie St.) beginning on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. A cadet vigil will take place on Tuesday, November 10 from 6 p.m. to midnight, and resumes on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Residents are invited to attend the Remembrance Day Service at the Brant War Memorial (6 Dalhousie St.) on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. Front row seating will only be available to veterans and their spouses or companions. Some bleacher seating will be available.

The order of proceedings for the City’s Remembrance Day Services and Parade on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is as follows:

  • 10:40 a.m.: The walking march leaves Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie St.) en route to the Brant War Memorial (6 Dalhousie St.)
  • 10:50 a.m.: Civic Service of Remembrance at the Brant War Memorial, Brant Ave. and Dalhousie St.

A fly-pass will occur during the service with aircrafts courtesy of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, weather permitting.

Each year, the City of Brantford’s Remembrance Day Organizing Committee invites students from local schools to participate in a special speech writing challenge. This year, Yasharah Amin from Assumption Collegiate School and Gunreet Kaur from Walter Gretzky Elementary Public School, wrote a speech about “The role of women in time of war”. They will read their speeches during the Remembrance Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

For those unable to attend Brantford’s Remembrance Day Service in person, Rogers TV Brantford will air the service. View schedules at www.rogerstv.com.

Temporary road closures

Attendees driving to the Remembrance Day Services should be aware that ongoing road construction has resulted in traffic impacts in the area, including the eastbound lane reduction on the Lorne Bridge, lane reductions on Brant Avenue, and the closure of Colborne Street. These closures are required as part of essential work related to the downtown revitalization project and place strain on traffic flow in and around the downtown. Construction details can be found at www.Brantford.ca/DowntownDetours.

Parking and transit

Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, free parking will be provided at downtown area municipal parking lots. Parking time restrictions at on-street parking spaces in the downtown area will be waived.

Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift will offer free transportation from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to and from the Brant War Memorial and Cenotaph (6 Dalhousie St.) for those attending the Remembrance Day Service. You can find updated routes and schedules at Brantford.ca/Transit.
