HipFest returns to Brantford’s Harmony Square on August 15

BRANTFORD, ON – The City is pleased to bring back the free beloved outdoor rock concert, HipFest, on Saturday, August 15, 2026 to Harmony Square downtown Brantford from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting. The evening begins with live music by Backburner performing blues rock and soul blues, followed by The Hip Experience, Canada’s ultimate Tragically Hip tribute band. Food and local goods will be available for purchase.

“The iconic music of The Tragically Hip not only floods people with a sense of nostalgia, it also brings together fans who share a love for their music,” said Jennifer Middleton, Special Events Supervisor. “We’re thrilled to offer the community an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of one of Canada’s most beloved bands through an unforgettable evening of live entertainment.”

The Hip Experience is Canada’s ultimate tribute to The Tragically Hip. The Hip Experience is dedicated to faithfully recreating the live sound and energy of The Tragically Hip. Renowned for their meticulous attention to detail, The Hip Experience delivers note-for-note renditions of hits from every album in The Tragically Hip's catalog, capturing the essence of the original performances while connecting with audiences through their own dynamic stage presence. With a growing national following, the band has performed across Canada at festivals, theatres, and private events, earning a reputation for high-energy, authentic shows that celebrate the legacy of one of Canada's most beloved rock bands. Their commitment to excellence and passion for music continues to captivate both longtime fans and new listeners alike. The Hip Experience will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Backburner is originally from Brantford, Ontario and combines a fusion of Canadian roots blues rock and soul and blues and the band has been singing, performing, and playing together for 25-years. With four voices, twelve strings, a keyboard or two and a set of drums, the band puts a brand-new spin on some great old and new soul, blues and Canadian roots music. They are inspired by Led Zeppelin, The Guess Who, The Sheepdogs, The Black Keys, Elton John, Leon Russell, The Black Crowes, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King and Aretha Franklin. Backburner is in the middle of recording their first album of original music at Jukasa Studios in Oshweken/Six Nations, Ontario. Backburner will take the stage at 7 p.m.

Support local at the on-site marketplace where a variety of vendors and artisans will be selling a variety of handmade goods, unique treasures and more. Food trucks will also be onsite to purchase throughout the evening. Be sure to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the performances.                                                       

Free parking is available on weekends at the Market Centre Parkade (59 Icomm Drive). Brantford Transit is also available to attendees looking for transportation to Harmony Square with the main terminal conveniently located only one block away. For attendees looking for accessible transportation, Brantford Lift will be available and must be booked before 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026.
