Temporary closure of Ballantyne Boat Launch and Trail Entrance starting August 10
BRANTFORD, ON – Ballantyne Drive River Access Point and boat launch and D’Aubigny trail access, located north of Spalding Drive, will be closed starting Monday, August 10, 2026 while construction and site enhancements are completed. The access point, boat launch, and trail are expected to reopen at the end of November, pending construction progress. Vehicle and pedestrian access to the area will not be permitted during this closure. The Ballantyne Drive River Access Point will not be accessible during this time.
Signage indicating the closure will be posted at the D’Aubigny Creek soccer fields and adjacent parking lot. For the public’s safety, trail users and paddlers are asked to avoid the area and, during this work, are encouraged to use the alternative river access point at Cockshutt Bridge on Erie Avenue. Please visit www.Brantford.ca/Trails to learn more about our trail system and to review the trail map that outlines access points, washroom locations, points of interest and more.
Once construction is complete, the City of Brantford and the Brant Waterways Foundation will host a ceremony to officially rename the Ballantyne Boat Launch and D’Aubigny Creek Trail Access point to the “Mary Welsh D’Aubigny Creek Boat Launch” in recognition of her generous support of initiatives that strengthened the health and enjoyment of the Grand River Watershed. Additional details will be shared closer to the event.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this work.
