Water Rates

The City is responsible for the treatment and distribution of drinking water and the safe disposal of wastewater. Water and Wastewater Rates were approved by Brantford City Council resulting in a zero increase to the base charge for water in 2023.

Water rates, services and fees

The 2023 water rate is $2.33 per cubic meter. The 2023 Water Fees Schedule details service charges per month by meter size.

Residents are encouraged to contact the City for information regarding water quality, leaks, water testing, low-pressure complaints and turning water on or off. Costs related to custom service requests are as follows:

Frozen meter

$112.00 plus cost of new meter Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
$208.00 plus cost of new meter after hours

Pool fill

$550 Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
$740 turned on during regular hours, and turned off after hours
$790 after hours.

Turn Water On and Off

$112 for one visit for turning water off and/or on during regular hours (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and after hours. A return visit to turn on will be subject to additional service call fee.
$53 for return visit for a single-family home.

Wastewater rates, services and fees

The 2023 wastewater rate is $2.13 per cubic meter. The 2023 Wastewater Fees Schedule outlines costs associated with use, operations and maintenance of the sewage collection system.

Sewer stoppage calls and sewer lateral video inspection

$620 for single-family homes only between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (video inspection fees included)
$1,230 for single-family homes only after hours (video inspection fees included)
$176 sewer lateral video inspection
