Youth Programs (ages 11 to 17)

Youth programming is intended for youth ages 11 to 17.

Youth Memberships cost only $5.00 per year! YOUth can gain access to youth lounges, Open Gym Drop-in, discounted registered programs and more.  Find details at www.Brantford.ca/YouthMemberships.

Woodman Park Community Centre programs

Woodman After Dark

YOUth ages 11 to 17, can enjoy Open Gym using a variety of sports equipment in the gymnasium, video games and playing pool in the WLounge, free snacks, karaoke, and more. This program is offered from 3:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m. Youth must drop-in before 8:00 p.m. and re-entry is not allowed.

Cost is free for youth members, or $3.50 for non-members. Registration is not required.

  • Ball Hockey on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

We will share important tips to help prepare your preteen on how to stay home alone. Learn skills such as how to handle emergencies, basic first aid, internet safety, and more. This is a Canada Safety Council course. Children can be turning minimum age within the calendar year.

This is the City of Brantford’s leader-in-training program. Each level is a two- week program. Complete both Level 1 and Level 2 to meet all the requirements to be a recreation program staff and future day camp leader as well as receive a certificate of completion from the Mayor’s Office.

Level 1

This course includes one week of in-class training on dates below followed by a 30-hour volunteer placement at a City-run day camp at a later date to show off your new skills. Placement selection will be available on first day of in-class learning.

  • March 15 to 19, 2027 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost to attend is $180 per person (activity number 28581)

Level 2

Continue to develop your recreational leadership skills in this Level 2 course. This program also includes a Canadian Red Cross First Aid/CPR Level C certification. One week of in-class training on dates below followed by a 30-hour volunteer placement at a City-run day camp at a later date to show off your new skills (Placement selection will be available on first day of in-class learning). You must complete Level 1 before taking Level 2.

There are no dates available at this time for Level 2.

LEVEL 1 

If you are interested in triathlons but not sure where to start, this beginner program is for you. You will learn good swim technique, practice drills and build your endurance. To join this program you should be able to complete a 25m swim with your face in the water.

LEVEL 2

If you have past swimming or triathlon experience this program will work on your technique and challenge you with speed drills and different strokes. It is a great workout for competitive triathletes as well as people who would like to stay fit and active. There is no class on May 18, 2026.
