More than 670 community members gathered at Earl Haig Family Fun Park on Sunday, June 21, to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day in Brantford. Hosted by Gihekdagye Friendship Centre in partnership with De dwa da dehs nye Aboriginal Health Centre, Child and Family Services of Grand Erie, Brantford Public Library, the Metis Nation of Ontario, Brantford Native Housing, Niwasa Kendaaswin Teg and the City of Brantford, the event brought together community, culture and learning.

Construction of the final columbarium in the Peace Garden design plan is underway at Mount Hope Cemetery (169 Charing Cross Street, Brantford).

The City of Brantford and East Ward Echo Place Neighbourhood Association celebrated the official grand opening of Arrowdale Community Park, joined by over 600 students from neighbouring schools.

The City of Brantford and the Brantford Fire Department remind residents that this year, the use of fireworks is permitted on Canada Day and the three calendar days leading up to the holiday (June 28, 29, 30 and July 1, 2026) as long as they meet the safety requirements and bylaw restrictions. Due to the specific nature of fireworks, most properties in the City of Brantford do not meet the size criteria required for safe fireworks displays. 

At their meeting held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Brantford City Council approved the 2025-2035 Brantford-Brant Housing Stability Plan: From Crisis Response to System Change. The plan outlines clear actions and measurable goals to reduce homelessness, advance human rights, increase affordable housing, and strengthen system integration and advocacy in Brantford and the County of Brant.

The City of Brantford’s Woodman Pool (491 Grey St.) is open daily, including summer holidays, starting Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The City of Brantford is pleased to provide Canada Day programming on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 for residents and visitors to enjoy. There will be schedule changes in place for some city facilities on Canada Day. 

Installation of underground infrastructure along Icomm Drive and road construction on Hill Street and Icomm Drive continue this week, with traffic controls remaining in place throughout the construction area.

At their Committee of the Whole meeting on June 16, Brantford City Council unanimously endorsed the development of a new, state-of-the art indoor turf sports facility that will expand year-round recreation and athletic opportunities in the community.
