BRANTFORD, ON – The Medical Officer of Health for the Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) has issued a cold notification, effective December 31, 2025. A cold notification is issued when temperatures are expected to drop below -15°C, or when wind chill values reach -20 ºC.
A winter weather advisory is in effect today and into tomorrow morning. Snowfall is expected, with total accumulations between 3 cm and 5 cm, along with strong wind gusts that could exceed 80 km/h. Snow squalls and blowing snow are possible.
The City of Brantford is excited to announce that the winter phase of the newly developed Arrowdale Park is now open, with the sledding hill ready for visitors to enjoy, weather permitting. Arrowdale Dog Park remains open daily from sunrise to sunset, offering a public, off-leash space where residents can bring their dogs year-round.
Curbside collections for garbage, recycling and green bin will not take place on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Collections will occur one day later between Thursday, December 25 to Saturday, December 27, 2025, and Thursday, January 1 to Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Brantford's New Year's Eve Celebration is taking place downtown on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Please be advised that for the public's safety, vehicles will not be permitted to park on the upper west side of the parkade from Tuesday, December 30, 2025 to Thursday, January 1, 2026 for the New Year's Eve Celebration fireworks.
Brant Avenue and Colborne Street are scheduled to temporarily reopen to traffic by late-afternoon on December 18, 2025, weather permitting. This reopening will remain in place through the winter, and work will resume in the spring to complete underground sanitary, storm, and watermain upgrades on the east side of the roadway.
